Your Generosity Can Empower Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Tanzania

Join us in our mission to amplify the voices of Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Tanzania and help them break free from the shackles of violence, discrimination, and harmful cultural practices. Your generous donation will support a groundbreaking initiative that is empowering AGYW to take action, assert their rights, and promote reproductive health and well-being.

The Challenges Faced by AGYW in Tanzania

AGYW in Tanzania face a multitude of challenges, including:

  • Limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities
  • Disproportionate exposure to violence, with 61% of women in Simiyu, Mara, and Shinyanga experiencing physical violence and 23% experiencing sexual violence
  • Deep-rooted gender inequality and harmful cultural norms, including female genital mutilation (FGM)

Our Empowering Initiative

Our comprehensive program is addressing these challenges head-on by:

  • Amplifying AGYW Voices: Providing platforms for AGYW to share their experiences, advocate for their rights, and make their voices heard.
  • Building Capacity: Equipping AGYW with leadership, advocacy, and SRHR knowledge and skills to become powerful agents of change.
  • Promoting Community Mobilization: Engaging communities to dismantle harmful norms, promote gender equality, and create a supportive environment for AGYW.
  • Strengthening Social Accountability: Empowering AGYW to hold their leaders accountable for providing quality services and upholding their rights.

Your Impact

Your contribution will make a profound impact on the lives of AGYW in Tanzania:

  • Increased AGYW participation in decision-making processes, shaping their own future and influencing community change.
  • Reduced FGM and sexual violence rates, creating a safer and more equitable society for AGYW.
  • Improved access to SRHR information and services, empowering AGYW to make informed choices about their health and well-being.
  • Enhanced social and behavioral change at the household and community levels, fostering a more inclusive and gender-just society.

Monitoring Our Progress

We are committed to measuring and evaluating the impact of our program, tracking key indicators such as:

  • AGYW access to health services and participation in reproductive training.
  • Improved social services available to AGYW.
  • Increased AGYW participation in peer champion training and leadership roles.
  • Increased AGYW access to GBV-related services, including counseling, legal support, and medical care.
  • Increased number of workshops conducted to strengthen linkages between health providers and legal aid networks.
  • Increased number of GBV awareness-raising sessions conducted by community-based organizations (CBOs), faith-based organizations (FBOs), and local government authorities (LGAs).
  • Increased percentage of GBV cases reported, registered, and resolved by official law enforcement and judiciary authorities.
